The Inferno

Synopsis:
“Thence we came forth to rebehold the stars.”

In the year 1300, on the night before Good Friday, Dante finds himself lost in a dark and perilous forest. As he approaches a mountain, his path is blocked by three terrifying beasts—a lion, a leopard, and a she-wolf. Unable to escape, he retreats deeper into the woods, hopeless and afraid.

There, he encounters the spirit of the great Roman poet Virgil, who offers to guide him on a journey through the realms of the afterlife. Together, they descend into Hell, beginning a profound and harrowing voyage that will ultimately lead Dante toward redemption and spiritual enlightenment.

Inferno, the first part of Dante Alighieri’s epic masterpiece The Divine Comedy, is a vivid and deeply symbolic portrayal of the human soul’s struggle through sin, punishment, and the hope of salvation. Rich with imagery and allegory, it remains one of the most celebrated works in all of literature.
